Tra i brani più celebri della tradizione musicale natalizia, troviamo “Carol of the bells”, scritta nel 1936 dall’autore statunitense Peter Wilhousky, rifacimento melodico di un popolare canto dedicato al Capodanno, scritto dal compositore ucraino Mykola Leontovyc.
Nel corso degli anni, il brano è stato riproposto in svariate pellicole cinematografiche (ad esempio nella colonna sonora del film “Mamma, ho perso l’aereo”) e da moltissimi artisti, che ne hanno eseguito diverse cover, tra cui: Charles Aznavour, Bing Crosby, Placido Domingo, Andy Williams, Pentagoni, Mannheim Steamroller, Celtic Woman, Ray Conniff Singers, LeAnn Rimes e Jessica Simpson.
